What Is Household Hazardous Waste?
Household hazardous waste includes any product with a flammable, toxic, corrosive, or reactive warning label. Common examples are latex and oil-based paint, motor oil, antifreeze, propane cylinders, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, batteries, and fluorescent bulbs.
These materials cannot go in your curbside recycling bin or trash — and reputable junk removal companies (including us) are prohibited from hauling them. The Rooney Road facility gives Jefferson County residents a free, legal alternative.

The facility is typically open on Saturdays year-round and adds weekday hours in spring and fall. Hours change seasonally — check the Jefferson County website or call 303-271-5700 before making the trip.
The facility is free for Jefferson County residents. Proof of residency (driver's license or utility bill) is required.

- ▸Empty containers (these can go in curbside recycling)
