Highlands Ranch is a master-planned community in Douglas County covering more than 22,000 acres south of C-470. It was built out from the 1980s through the 2000s in four major filings, each managed by its own recreation authority, with HOA rules governing everything from what can be placed at the curb to how long it can stay there.
