Every junk removal job starts with a description and a photo. Sometimes what's waiting for you on-site tells a different story.
That's exactly what happened today up in Evergreen, where we picked up two Bagster bags left over from a deck repair project. On paper, it sounded simple: lumber debris, a couple of bags, a quick load-and-go. What we found when we got there was a little more complicated.
The Surprise Underneath
Mixed in with the deck lumber were broken concrete pier blocks — heavy, awkward chunks that hadn't been part of the original plan. Concrete adds real weight fast, and it changes how you approach a load. You can't just toss it in like scrap wood; it takes the right equipment and the right technique to move safely without hurting yourself or damaging the truck.
This is the kind of thing you can't always predict from a phone call or a photo. In this line of work, you learn to show up prepared for the job you were told about and the job you might actually find.
Working the Mountain Roads
Evergreen doesn't make things easy on a good day, and this site was tucked along a narrow dirt road with no room to just pull through. Getting our box truck in and out meant careful backing, slow maneuvering, and a lot of patience — all while handling a load that was heavier than expected.
It's a good reminder of why mountain terrain experience matters so much for junk removal in the foothills. Narrow access, steep grades, and tight turnarounds are the norm, not the exception, once you get up into towns like Evergreen, Conifer, and the surrounding areas.
Getting It Done Right
Despite the surprise concrete and the tight access, we got both Bagsters loaded safely and the site cleared out completely. The client was thrilled to have the space back and the project debris finally gone.
That's the job, honestly — showing up ready for whatever's actually there, not just what's on the work order.
